Come and celebrate Australia’s National Floral Emblem, the wattle tree (Acacia). For centuries, the wattle tree has been a big part of our history and culture. Its colour brings joy to many, and its abundance is an early reminder that spring is on its way.
The schedule for the day includes a talk about Wattle Tree, followed by a morning tea break and a discussion about wattle trees in the garden. Visitor Information Centre will also have a beautiful range of Wattle Tree products . Additionally, the Narrabri Shire Biosecurity Officer (weed control) will be offering a free Wattle Tree!

Wattle Day High Tea at Nutcote
To celebrate Wattle Day and the arrival of Spring on 1 September we are offering special Wattle High Teas on Saturday 2 September and Sunday 3 September 2023.
Ticket prices include entry to the museum and a guided tour of the cottage. Bookings are essential.
Each High Tea includes a selection of freshly made finger sandwiches, two of our delicious homemade scones with jam and cream, sweet treats including a special wattle themed cupcake and your choice of our range of Queen Victoria teas. $60pp
Children can enjoy our special Wattle Day Tea. Menu includes a cheese sandwich, wattle themed cupcake, cookie and juice. Available for children under ten. $25pp
*Vegetarian and gluten free options available on request.
High Teas will be served on the undercover terrace between 11:30am and 1:30pm.
You can take a tour before or after High Tea depending on timing.

Georges River Council is inviting the community to join the Bushcare team for an educational event focused on Wattle Day, hosted at Oatley Park on Friday 1 September 2023.
In addition to learning about these trees, attendees can also actively contribute by planting endemic wattle trees and other native shrub species found growing locally.
The Georges River Council Bushcare team will provide all necessary tools for the day. However, participants should bring their own gloves, hats, and water bottles. No prior experience is required.
Georges River mayor, Nick Katris said, “This event represents an exciting opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the beauty and importance of our native Wattle trees.
“Participants will not only learn about these remarkable species but also play an active role in enhancing our local environment. We encourage everyone, regardless of their background, to participate for a memorable day of environmental education and hands-on involvement”.

‘Join us for a casual “meet and greet” event to celebrate the re-awakening of interest in an old tradition, National Wattle Day. It’s been a few years since a Wattle Day event has been held in Sydney.
So I’m hoping reignite this tradition that JordsAU once promoted.”

- LOCATION: At the top of the hill known as The Trail, Sydney Park, St Peters
- DATE: Friday, 1st September 2023
- TIME 5:00pm (17:00) – 6:00pm (18:00)
- GETTING THERE: By train (St Peters station), bus, bicycle or car.
- WHAT TO BRING: Yourself or any trackables for discovery or swapping. Food and beverages are available nearby.
- CUSTOMS: Wear a sprig of wattle, and greet geocachers & muggles alike with “Happy Wattle Day”.
There are facilities in the park for all ages – playground, cycling, dog park, skatepark. There is so much open space to explore.
The park is dog friendly with a designated off leash area.
There are a few local caches nearby as well as some ALs that start here if you haven’t been here before.
