Wattles are prolific around Avoca, north west of Melbourne Victoria and they have been adopted by Avoca preschool children as their kindergarten plant totem. Over the last two years the preschool has incorporated First Nations perspectives in its early education practice. The children have connected with the environment, explored the culture and traditions of First Nations people and cared for wattle saplings around their kinder.
